BAE
Select XV V Cumbria President XV
BAE Select XV played a Cumbria President XV in what was a great spectacle for the large crowd gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary and family gala day.
The BAE side were mainly home lads but a few guest players were brought in from Furness, Millom and Upper Eden. Knowing the average age of the BAE 'Dad's Army' XV the County President skilfully selected the County U21 squad with a few experienced forwards for guidance.
Most of the game was free flowing and although the score was close for most of the game the Presidents XV ran out eventual winners by 33 - 17. The score was really not important, what mattered was the players and spectators all enjoyed the occasion and the game of rugby union was the winner.
For the second day running home skipper Dave Gallagher was always in the action, and home centre Andy Bennett showed up well, along with Colin Niven from Furness.
BAE would like to thank all the local lads who took part but would especially like to thank the County President, John Owen and all his team who travelled to Barrow from all around the County.
