And never quite making it....

An 'anonymous informant' tells me that Jason Meadows once pulled his hamstring during the warm up and never made it to the match. I guess this is a minus appearance time!!!!!

Even shorter appearance.....

Bill Turner noticed on the facts and figures section the story of good old Eric Southward. Whilst his shortened game occurred in a fixture against Furness, we can actually beat his short game record.

I think it was an 'A' team game against Workington on the top pitch many moons ago. When we kicked off both myself (Bill) and Norman Smith ran in to tackle the player receiving the kick off. It was only a short kick just over the 10 yard line and myself and Norman clashed heads as we both hit the Workington guy. Norman went off to go to hospital for several stitches in a head wound whilst I carried on playing with a headache. Norman's time on the pitch - approx 3-4 secs!

ERIC SOUTHWOOD

Eric recently sent a message which prompted Ciaran to submit the following:

The shortest New Years Day game appearance ever.

No 8 Eric Southwood lined up with Vickers on half way line to receive the kick off.
The ball went over him and as he watched the ball move towards 22, Tommy Akred (former Vickers Captain) gave him a friendly passing elbow off the ball and broke his jaw.
Total playing time around 10 seconds.

Ciaran Trainor

Against all the odds, and silencing a major group of doubters, at 49 years old I achieved my 200th appearance for the 1st XV in the 55 - 5 at Blackpool Saturday March 14th.
(Big Ged will be squirming in his heavenly position up there on the wing!!)

Jim Steele

On the 24th November 2004 the remarkable achievement of playing 700 games for the club was set by Mr. Jim Steele.
